SavvyNomad vs Earth Class Mail: business mailroom or personal US address?
Earth Class Mail is built for business mail, with plans from $39 a month and a CMRA address. See pricing, reviews, and which fits expats, nomads and RVers who need a residential address.
Earth Class Mail is a virtual mailbox and virtual mailroom now part of LegalZoom, and it offers both business and personal plans. SavvyNomad is a personal US address with domicile support. Which one you need depends on who the mail is for and what the address has to do.
This guide covers what Earth Class Mail is, what it costs, what reviewers say, and whether you can use its address as your personal residential address.
SavvyNomad vs Earth Class Mail: which should you choose?
- A business owner with a team or steady business mail: Earth Class Mail. It has team seats, API integrations, check handling and a wide choice of addresses.
- An expat, nomad or RVer who needs a residential address for banks, a driver's license or domicile: SavvyNomad.
- Someone who only wants cheap mail scanning and already has domicile settled: neither is the cheapest. Earth Class Mail starts at $39 a month. Best virtual mailbox services for expats and nomads guide compares lower-priced options.
The deciding factor is the address type. Earth Class Mail addresses are commercial mail receiving agency (CMRA) addresses. SavvyNomad's addresses in Florida and Texas are residential.
What is Earth Class Mail?
Earth Class Mail receives your mail at a street address, scans it, and lets you read, shred, forward or deposit checks from an online dashboard. It's a virtual mailbox for individuals and a virtual mailroom for businesses, with business mail scanning for teams.
Ownership and the name. LegalZoom acquired Earth Class Mail on November 10, 2021. LegalZoom Earth Class Mail is now sold as LegalZoom Virtual Mail, also called LZ Virtual Mail, and LegalZoom's glossary describes it as "formerly Earth Class Mail." The older name lives on in its help center and legal terms, and most people still search for Earth Class Mail. Best Earth Class Mail alternatives guide covers the rebrand and the competing options.

- iOS and Android apps
- Free shredding and unlimited cloud storage for digitized mail

How much does Earth Class Mail cost? Earth Class Mail pricing explained

- Forwarding: domestic $1.25 per shipment, international $5 per shipment, plus postage and $1 per item.
- Shredding: free.
LegalZoom's pricing page also refers to cancellation and reactivation fees in a separate FAQ, so read it before you subscribe.
What it looks like in practice. These figures are illustrations using list prices, not quotes:
| Non-Junk Items per Month | Earth Class Mail (Per Year) | SavvyNomad (Per Year) |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | Personal Mailbox $39, about $468 | Basic $720 or SavvyNomad $1,080, billed annually |
| 15 | Family Mailbox $59, about $708 (Personal with 10 extra items at $3 would be about $828) | Basic $720 or SavvyNomad $1,080, billed annually |
| 25 | Family Mailbox $59, about $708 | Basic $720 or SavvyNomad $1,080, billed annually |
At moderate volume, the cost gap is small. SavvyNomad's Basic plan forwards essential mail only, and the SavvyNomad plan adds full scanning. For Earth Class Mail, watch the cost per item after your free allowance, plus package storage at $15 per pound per month.
Earth Class Mail reviews: common praise and complaints
Earth Class Mail reviews are mixed and mostly come from business owners. On Capterra it holds a 4.3 out of 5 average across 52 reviews, with value for money rated lower at 3.9. About two-thirds of those reviews are five stars, and five are one star. G2 shows a lower 3.3 out of 5, but from only 13 reviews. Capterra's most recent reviews date from mid-2025 and its listing still shows the older pricing, so these reviews predate the current plans.
What reviewers like. Praise centers on the product itself: a broad selection of addresses, fast and convenient scanning, quick check deposits, simple shipping, and package management. Reviewers like being able to assign mail to recipients and say the portal feels like email. Remote teams value having no physical office to staff. Several long-time customers (one for 12 years, another for 7) stay because it keeps business mail off their home address.
What reviewers complain about. Customer service is the most common criticism. Some reviewers describe it as unhelpful or argumentative, and some report unanswered phone calls. Billing comes next: surprise charges, charges after cancellation, and a reviewer who says prices doubled within a year. A few say processing is slow, including one who relies on checks and says the delay hurts cash flow. Others call the interface confusing, say notifications aren't customizable enough, or object to storage and shipping fees.
A customer's view. A May 2026 review by a former Earth Class Mail CEO who has been a customer since 2015, published on Shoeboxed's blog, says it fits businesses that already have an Earth Class Mail address on bank accounts and state documents, and owners who deposit paper checks. It suggests looking elsewhere if you're forming a new LLC today, want the cheapest option, or handle more than 50 pieces of mail a month.
What reviews don't tell you. Most reviewers run businesses, so they say little about personal use or about whether a bank or DMV accepted the address. That's a separate question, covered next. The same caution applies to our own reviews at reviews.savvynomad.io. Some were submitted in exchange for a small reward, so read them for how setup and mail handling go, and check acceptance with your own institutions.
Can an Earth Class Mail virtual address be your personal residential address?
No. An Earth Class Mail virtual address is a CMRA address, so it works as a mailing address but generally not as your residential address.
What a CMRA is. It looks like a street address with a suite or PMB designator, but USPS data flags it as commercial. What is a CMRA address guide explains how the flag works.
Banks. Customer Identification Program checks generally don't accept a CMRA address as a primary residential address. Acceptance varies by institution, so ask yours.
Business accounts are different. Per our help center, a business typically isn't required to give a residential address, but the individual behind the account must give one for personal identity verification. That's why a business mailroom can work for a company's mail and still not work as your home address.
Driver's license and domicile. DMVs need proofs of a residential address, and a mailbox address generally doesn't qualify. Earth Class Mail has addresses in Florida and Texas, but a CMRA address in either state doesn't make you a resident of it.
What LegalZoom sells it for. Its own pitch is privacy, keeping your home address off public records. That's a valid use, and it's not the same as residency.
Form 1583, honestly compared. LegalZoom says it provides free notarization for the form when a notary is required. SavvyNomad's online notary, Proof, charges $25 per session, and it asks for a Social Security number and a US address. Without an SSN, you can use BlueNotary, or a US-commissioned in-person notary. One more detail on our side: if you complete the form for business use, it covers both business and personal mail. If you complete it for personal use and add a business later, you'll redo the process.
What Earth Class Mail can do. It works as a mailing address alongside a separate residential address. Set up Florida domicile with SavvyNomad if you need the residential side.
Which one fits a business owner, an expat, a nomad or an RVer?
- A business owner. Earth Class Mail fits teams, high volume and a virtual mailroom, with seats, recipients and integrations. For a solo owner with one company, SavvyNomad's middle plan includes one business with scanning, forwarding and check deposit, plus a Florida registered agent for a Florida LLC. SavvyNomad is not a team mailroom, and a second business is $15 a month. Business mail also needs the SavvyNomad plan or higher, not Basic.
- An expat. A residential address for banks and a driver's license is what matters most. Earth Class Mail can sit beside it as a mailing address, with international forwarding at $5 a shipment plus postage.
- A nomad. The same logic applies. Watch the package storage fee, which is $15 per pound a month after 10 days. Best mail forwarding services for American digital nomads guide compares seven options.
- An RVer. Earth Class Mail has no pickup, rejects items over 20 pounds, and doesn't establish domicile. For a Florida or Texas domicile, a residential address is the foundation. How full-time RVers get mail guide covers the mail side.
